Biosecurity Risk Management
Early detection and containment of biosecurity threats. Integrated surveillance using ground data and remote sensing to support state and national programs.
Know before it spreads
The most damaging pathogens are often invisible until it's too late. ArborCarbon helps you detect and respond to biological threats before they take hold, with a combination of remote sensing, field diagnostics, spread-risk modelling and data-driven reporting designed for early, effective action.
Biosecurity isn't just about reacting to outbreaks
Many organisations rely on visual symptoms or historical patterns to guide their response to vegetation threats. But waiting for visible damage often means missed windows for eradication, containment, higher treatment costs, and greater environmental impact. Traditional methods also leave gaps in accuracy, particularly when dealing with pests an pathogens like Phytophthora, and Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer.
Relying on chance is not a strategy. ArborCarbon replaces guesswork with clarity.

The real story behind biosecurity risk management
We combine scientific precision with advanced technology to create a complete picture of biosecurity risks—both above and below ground.
This isn’t just surveillance, it’s early intervention backed by proven diagnostic methods and hyperspectral imaging. Our team includes world-leading forest pathologists, and we’re equipped to identify pathogens to the species level using both traditional isolation techniques and DNA sequencing.
Our remote detection capability allows for wide-area monitoring that identifies species, hosts, and stress indicators before symptoms become visible, making it possible to target field investigations and reduce spread.
What we deliver
- Pathogen identification that’s fast, accurate, and evidence-based
- Remote surveillance that identified hosts and detects vegetation stress before symptoms emerge
- Decision support that simplifies complex data into clear action steps
- Compliance-ready documentation that supports environmental reporting and audit requirements
- Strategic insight to reduce risk and improve long-term vegetation health
How it works:
Why choose ArborCarbon?

Our diagnostics are backed by decades of peer-reviewed research and field validation. - Technology advantage
From spectral analysis to airborne remote sensing, our methods detect problems others miss. - Environmental outcomes
Every project we design is focused on protecting biodiversity, improving vegetation resilience, and supporting long-term sustainability goals. - Proven track record
We’ve supported government agencies, local councils, and land managers with biosecurity systems that work in the real world.
Phytophthora dieback detection for WA Local Government Agencies
The challenge
Multiple local governments in Western Australia were facing unexplained tree decline across parklands and reserves, with increasing pressure from stakeholders and limited internal surveillance and diagnostic capacity.
The solution
ArborCarbon implemented a two-tiered program of airborne remote sensing paired with targeted field diagnostics. Suspected sites were prioritised based on spectral signatures and canopy health indicators. Fieldwork confirmed multiple Phytophthora infestations, enabling early containment measures.
The impact
- Multi-year reduction in average detection-to-treatment time
- Cost savings through targeted intervention rather than resource-intensive field-based surveys and sampling
- Improved vegetation condition through targeted assessment and treatment
- Enhanced public confidence through transparent reporting
